“REJOICE!” by the Apostle Paul

When apostle Paul wrote the Philippians and made an exhortation for them to rejoice in The Lord always, you may not be aware of the circumstance Paul was in at the time.  Paul was in a dungeon cell no bigger than most people’s closet.  There was no natural light, and the city’s sewage was routed through the heart of the dungeon.  At the time Paul was writing “Rejoice…and again I say rejoice”, it is more than probable that he was standing in raw human sewage up to his waist.

Paul had something that his conditions couldn’t rule over:  the right attitude.

BIOGRAPHY, *Corrie Ten Boom:  “Conditions are always changing; therefore, I must not be dependent upon conditions.  What matters supremely is my soul and my relationship to GOD.”

(*Corrie Ten Boom was a courageous woman who survived a Nazi concentration camp during World War 2).

“ATTITUDE” by Charles Swindol

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.  Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.  It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.  It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.  It will make or break a church…a home…a company.  The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we embrace for that day.  We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.  We cannot change the inevitable.  The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have and that is our attitude.  I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it…and so it is with you.  We are responsible for our attitude."

“I can’t figure things out”  I will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6)

“I can’t do it”  You can do all things (Phillipians 4:13)S

“I’m not able”  You are able (2nd Corinthians 9:8)

“It’s not worth it”  It will be worth it (Romans 8:28)

“I can’t forgive myself”  I forgive you (John 1:9 & Romans 8:1)

“I’m afraid”  I have not given you a spirit of fear (2nd Timothy 1:7)

“I’m always worried and frustrated”  Cast all your cares on me (1 Peter 5:7)

An old Cherokee was teaching his grandson about life.

“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.  “It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves.  One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, selfishness, and ego.  The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.  This same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person too.”

The grandson asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee replied, “The one you feed.”

-An attitude of gratitude gives thanks to God not only for what He does, but also for who He is.

-O give thanks to The GOD of Heaven, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever! (Psalm 136:26)
